What Litify Is

Litify was founded in 2016 out of Morgan & Morgan — by John Morgan and Reuven Moskowitz — and is headquartered in Brooklyn. Its defining architectural fact: it is built entirely on the Salesforce cloud. Firms get Salesforce's CRM infrastructure, configurability, reporting engine, and app ecosystem, with Litify supplying the legal data model and workflows on top.

The platform covers client intake and referral management, matter management, document generation and management, time and billing, legal spend management, and analytics. In 2025 and 2026 it repositioned around embedded and agentic AI — Litify AI across the platform, plus agents built on Salesforce's Agentforce framework, including an AI conflict checker introduced in its Q2 2025 product update. Salesforce itself is a Litify customer.

Bessemer Venture Partners acquired a majority stake in February 2023, as the company reached profitability; no ownership change has followed as of July 2026. Litify made one acquisition of its own — LegalStratus, a Salesforce-based e-billing product, in 2021 — which underpins its corporate legal-department offering.

Who It’s Built For

Mid-size to large organizations rather than solos: high-volume plaintiff and PI firms are a core segment given its Morgan & Morgan origins, alongside insurance defense firms, immigration practices, and corporate legal departments. Implementation typically involves configuration and consulting effort closer to an enterprise deployment than an off-the-shelf install.

Where It Fits in a Firm’s Stack

Choosing Litify is partly choosing Salesforce: the admin model, the configurability, the reporting engine, and the AppExchange ecosystem all come with it. For firms that want CRM-grade intake analytics and enterprise reporting, that is the draw; for firms without Salesforce admin capacity in-house or on retainer, it is the cost to understand up front.

In the plaintiff market it competes most directly with Filevine at the high-volume end, and the fork usually comes down to platform philosophy: Salesforce-native extensibility versus a purpose-built legal platform. Its AI roadmap rides Salesforce's Agentforce framework, which means it inherits that ecosystem's pace — in both directions.

Questions Firms Ask

Do we need Salesforce licenses to run Litify?

Litify is delivered on the Salesforce platform; licensing is bundled through Litify's subscription, and firms inherit Salesforce's admin and configuration model.

Is it overkill for a small firm?

Litify targets mid-size and larger operations. Implementation typically involves configuration and consulting effort more common in enterprise deployments.

Is it plaintiff-only?

No — it began in the plaintiff world but has dedicated offerings for insurance defense and corporate legal departments.

Who owns Litify?

Bessemer Venture Partners has held a majority stake since February 2023. The company was founded by John Morgan and Reuven Moskowitz in 2016.
