“…More heroes and fewer villains…” This is such an important article - discussing the potential pitfalls of power. Power can lead to overconfidence, decreased empathy, and even unethical behavior. In our upcoming book, “Invested Leadership,” we discuss the importance of self-awareness which is really useful in this context as well. Further, avoiding accountability and/or checks/balances and feedback mechanisms can result in toxicity - while the temptation may be to surround one’s self with sycophants and “yes people” - it’s a sure fire way to lose your best people and eventually erode culture.
